How to Learn Korean Quickly
Eat all the kimchi you can or dress up in ‘working pajamas’ like Kim Jong-Il, but you’ll never learn korean fast enough with just a book in hand.
Not even if you go to a quaint Korean village, where finding someone who speaks English is like finding a
soulmate.
The good news is that we all are capable of learning a new language, even if it uses strange characters for
writing. And you can learn it fast enough if you use the right learning aids.
But first, here’s something to motivate you. The Korean language is one of the top 15 most widely spoken
languages in the world. In fact, the number of the Korean speakers who reside in different regions of the globe has
gone over 80 million. It is the official language of the Korean nations (South and North), and it is also one of
China’s Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture official tongue.
North and South show an interesting contrast among Asian nations. The South is one of the world’s most
progressive nations, a giant in electronics, transportation and heavy equipment. And the North – well, its people
may be hungry but they’re really excellent at ‘mass games’ or synchronized field gymnastics (and would having some
nukes be a plus?).
If you don’t know any Korean to practice speaking the language with, that can be tough. There may be some Korean
immigrants in your town, operating a restaurant or a convenience store, but you can’t keep bothering them, can
you?
You can’t just listen to a native Korean speaker too. They talk fast and your ears just aren’t ready for it;
perhaps you’ll feel like an old-timer listening to rap music. So why not try the smartest language learning tool –
audio books.
You can download it from any vendor on the web, save it in your iPod or any handy MP3 player (South Korea makes
excellent phones and handhelds that play audio files), then listen to it any time you can. And you don’t just
listen to it. It’s an interactive course that allows you to ‘speak along’ and do other talking exercises. You don’t
really have to eat hot and spicy Korean noodles just to pronounce the words well. People that have
been interested in learning Korean quickly have also shown interest in Korean language
learning. A new approach to korean
language learning is beneficial.
The popular Pimsleur language learning courses offer Korean lessons too. You can download the course from The
Talking Book Store or any of the many vendors online. There’s really no better option for learning Korean
quickly.
And before you know it, you’ll be ready to learn traditional tae-kwon-do with a Korean master; sing a lullaby to
North and South Korean guards at the DMZ, who look like they miss their mommies; and tell Kim Jong-Il to go easy on
his DVD collection and cognac while his people are starving.
